Typical American

This was my transfer project. I had a lot of fun experimenting with different ways of transferring. Here, I used the packing tape method. I used an artist's black pen to draw three different pictures, the top layer of bushes, the dog (Lady), the brick wall, and the bottom layer of bushes. I photocopied them using a printer and put packing tape over them. After soaking in water until all the paper is wet, rub off the paper carefully. then I cut out the images and layered them. However, on the right ear I don't think I cut enough of the bricks off and the top bushes, which I will probably fix later. The layering of the two images creates a darker image. This was my first project hatching (I'm typically a painter) and I am very proud of how it turned out. The image was of Lady when she was shaggy, and I hope the hatching creates that effect.
The idea/theme behind this piece is the typical American dog, wild at heart, yet bound to society.
